The Central Florida Consortium of Private School Counselors is a non-profit, professional association serving the needs of counselors and students at independent schools in Central Florida. What initially began as an informal discussion among local educators, Alex Segura (formerly of Lake Highland Preparatory School) and Bob Burris (formerly of Pine Castle Christian Academy), about the benefits of starting an organization to address issues pertinent to school counselors and students, developed into the Central Florida Consortium of Private School Counselors (CFCPSC).
The first official meeting was held at Lake Highland Preparatory School on January 16, 2003. Within the same year, the consortium filed for incorporation and began planning the first Central Florida College Fair for independent schools. The college fair has become the signature event for the consortium annually hosting over one-hundred and twenty-five colleges and universities. Since 2003 membership in the consortium has grown to more than thirty-five college/guidance counselors and administrators from fifteen private schools in the Central Florida area including Lake, Orange and Seminole counties.
